Swedish Meatballs

Where do you think you will go when you think of Swedish Meatballs???? Ikea? I've heard so much comments about the meatballs there from all my colleagues from Sweden. Nope, they are not considered meatballs, for heaven sake!

I didn't really believe that because I really thought that the meatballs were yummy enough. I decided to swallow that after eating at Two Chefs at Phuket. Hehs. They are erm, really DIFFERENT!!! So, I gladly accepted the invitation to Martina's place for a meatball session after work!!

After putting our meat in.
We roll them into balls.

And we fry them one by one.

And there they are.

Gravy gravy gravy! We need gravy! Buy the powder and cream!

It's seriously ALOT of meatballs.

If the above few photos don't look familiar to you. This should! Haha. Yummilious! I love meatball! Hehs. Ok, no exact recipe yet. But, we neeeeed beef, pork, bread crumbs, eggs, milk. Lalalalalalala~

Final verdict. Yes, once again, Ikea meatballs are.... Hehs. And, I love homecooked food! Cheers!!

Thank you Martina for teaching me how to make the meatballs!! =D =D

Wild Honey @ Mandarin Gallery

I have been craving for American breakfast since long long time ago. I want big big sausage, yummy scrambled egg, potatoes, good bread. Not too difficult to ask for I would say. But it gets a little difficult if you are never up/ at the restaurant when they are still serving breakfast.

So, Wild Honey to the rescue! Woohoo! It serves full day breakfast. So even if I want to eat it after work, it's perfectly ok!! And yeap, that was what I did! Hehs.

Beware of the queue man. Because it is opened till 1030, I suggest that you can reach around 9. So that you don't have to wait for more than 1 hour for it. This long wait is the only complain I can think of.

Ok, that was nothing to do with the review, but I like them! The sugar cubes look so nice. Haha. And okay, I was actually a little bored waiting for my food. Haha.

Tadang. Dish number one. Cookie. This cookie actually cost $4 each. I have no idea why, but we paid for it glady. Hehs.

So, it has chocolate coating on half the cookie. The other side of the cookie also have half coated with chocolates. Hehs. I guess this would make sure that we are not overloaded with chocolates. Because this is the first thing we have after such a long wait, I approach it with weary. Haha. It turned out to be really good! Woohoo!

Softness was good. It can be broken with the spoon and scooped to the mouth. And it's not like the soggy softness you know? Haha. It was good. Yum yum!

And then we realized that hey! There's maple syrup between the 2 cookies! And we don't find the whole thing very sweet. Hehs. Nice. First step to heaven.

Apparently this Queen B is one of the most popular mocktail at Wild Honey. We ordered it and it tasted really different. Haha. It has grapefruit and something. First mouth was "Eh? Hmm." After that, it became "Hmm. Nice! Hahaha."

And now, the most anticipated moment.

First, my craving was satisfied with the English breakfast. Everything that I had asked for. Or even more than I had. Because it had nice sauteered mushrooms and yummy baked beans. Haha. My goodness. This is huge! We are in heaven. Hahahahaha.

I was hooked by the potatoes. Nicely baked and the sprinkle of salt on it made it tasted really good. You can taste the salt but you won't complain about it because it was that which made it yums.

The sausage was heavenly. Seriously. Crunchy on the outside because of the grilled skin. Tight and woooo on the inside. It was thick as I wanted it. But too bad. It was a little small. Especially when 4 people are sharing it. Hahaha! But I think we can order a side order for the sausage. Good. I will do it. Haha!

The mushrooms were a surprise. Nicely flavored and grilled. Wooo!

Scrambled egg. Not very special but it was important in this entire English breakfast. My god.

I did not managed to take a photo of the baked beans. It was so special! A little spicy and it was really big! Nothing like the normal baked beans they use from cans! Woohoo! YUMMMMMMS! I love the English breakfast! And the bread that came along was really good. I always love steamed bread more than toasted bread. But this combination was too good to be true. Lightly toasted on the outside but the softness of the bread inside was not sacrificed. This is crazy. Oh, the bacon too! It's oh my god. A little too salty for my liking but if I eat it with other things then, it's heavenly! Best bacon I have ever tasted. I want to bring the chef home. Haha.

Please note that we are already in heaven. So, the remaining dishes kept us in heaven for a long long time. Haha.

Next up, the Tunisian breakfast. Oh god. How can all the spices fuse together like this? It has 2 fried eggs, some sausages (goood!!). Don't underestimate it. My goodness. Take the nicely toasted bread and dip into the sauce. You will scream "I'm in heaven!". Hahaha. Ok, I think most of the people are not exactly as dramatic as me, but you get the gist here.

Taken from their menu: Canadian - A stack of classic pancakes served with wild berry and hibiscus compote, Canadian maple syrup and bacon.

Understatement I would say. It should read: Canadian - A stack of classic super fluffy and soft pancakes served with crazily nice and tastefully done wild berry and hibiscus compote, terribly nice Canadian maple syrup and out of the world delicious bacon. This was the best bacon that I had tasted in my life. I'm serious. Because of this, 3 of us had a new respect for pigs. Haha. I like this bacon more than the English breakfast because it's not that salty. When we eat it with the pancakes and pour maple syrup over it and then top it up with a little berries, you will scream "I'M IN HEAVEN!". Haha. Max prefers the English breakfast bacon because it's more fatty. Haha.
Last one, Belgian breakfast. The waffles were crazily fluffy and soft. The coconut cream was just nice. Not too thick or what as YX had feared. Mangoes were terribly sweet. Blueberries were like berries lo. Toasted coconut flakes went really well with the waffles. My goodness. If you know me and YX well enough, you will know how much we love and worship flour products. Hahaha. This got us crazy as well.

All of us were in heaven. The entire meal put too much food to shame. And it gave a new meaning to pigs. Thank you for your sacrifice. And please, do not destroy all the wheat on Earth for we will definitely cry and die. Haha.

*Smiling so happily before we attacked the food because we were already very amazed with the whole presentation of the food. Spend quite a fair bit of money on breakfast ($30 each) but we paid happily. It was definitely all worth it. Service there was good as well. Staff were helpful. Lighting was a little too dark for a breakfast place (and thus lousy food photos). But good for after work. Haha. Not a lot of photos taken because I HAVE TO ATTACK THE FOOD! Haha.

Will definitely pull more people there again. It's highly highly highly recommended! Please go!!

Address: Mandarin Gallery #03-02
Note: No reservation. You have to wait terribly long! Haha. Try to go real early or real late. Hehs.

Wan Chai Hong Kong Tea Room (Sembawang Shopping Center)

If you go to the Sembawang Shopping Center and is looking for some food, you must be fretting on what to eat. Haha. The choices there are so limited that you have to pick one of them somehow or another (well, that is if you don't want to brave the heat to go to the nice food just opposite the street).

At least, that's what happened to us. So, even though I had no much great recollections/reviews about this place, we decided to give it a try. It was surprisingly good.

I ordered some beef baked rice. Well, Chinese style of course! Haha. Just look at the sauce covering the meat. Haha. And the limited cheese. That's a Chinese-Ang Moh mix I would say. Hahahahaha!

Let me repeat again. It's really surprisingly good! I was not expecting too much from this dish because their menu did not managed to appeal me at all! But heys, the rice was really special! There's some nice taste about it. I have no idea what is that taste. I only know that the taste made the rice tasted delicious. The cheese and the sauce made it perfect.

And if you order a meat dish, you would put your bet on the meat. I've been to many places that sells really nice side dish, but the main dish was just so-so. Not for this! The beef was really tender and it took me by surprise once again! Ha! Together with the black pepper sauce. Wooo! I'm loving it! I totally melt under tender meat you see. Haha. And there's also mushrooms around. Me like!

And my man had another baked rice. It's the chicken drumstick one. Ha! It was really good too! The chicken was grilled nicely. I would expect the sauce on top of it to soften the skin but apparently, it did not! It actually still tasted crispy to me (the outer skin) after some time. In addition, the meat was tender of course! Whoosh!

And each set will come with a soup. Nothing very special about it but it still tasted good.

I am not too sure about other dishes because I remembered that I had bad memories with the place. Not exactly bad but I remembered criticizing at it. Well, that was quite a few years back, so maybe they had improved! Give them a chance!!

Swiss Butchery @ Coronation Shopping Plaza

I'm sorry, I love taking my drinks while waiting PATIENTLY for my food you see. Haha. Kelvin was the one who noticed that I love taking photos of my water. HAHAHA! Nothing interesting. Hehs.

Seriously, I'm not someone who understand beer. I have to post the photos. Would someone enlighten what beer is this?! Hehs.

Okay, you know, outdoor means bad lighting and thus, I came up with a super innovative way. Hahaha! Use the flash light from iLights (download the app from iTunes. Only supported in iPhone 4.)

So, first of all, the cod fish fillet burger. Sorry that the photo was a little too far away. I realize that I din even try to zoom in later. Hehs. Urm, because SH started the burger late, it was already a little cold. So, it's not fair for us to say that it's a bit tough. The bread was great, definitely. But the fish was not as soft as I had imagined it to be.

Kelvin's classic burger. Beef patty with bacon and cheese. Oh, it look so pretty hor? Hahaha. It's the first best attempt using iLights. Hahahaha! Patty was a bit tough, bread was superb. Haha!

Here's the burger without the cover. Haha. See the patty, cheese and bacon. Wooo!

Mine! I forgot the name! I'm so sorry. But it's the 2nd burger from the top. Haha. It also have beef patty, bacon and cheese. What's different is that it has mushroom. I LOVEE THE BACON! I'm so taken away by the bacon! Hahaha! The beef patty was really just ok only lo (Oh! Carols from Biopolis have better and softer patties!). I love the bread. I really really love the bread. It has a cripsy outer layer and it's oh, so, soft! YUMS! Bacon bacon I love you! Haha.

Bacon bacon I love you!
Cheese, patty and the greens.
Weng's chicken burger. Woo. The chicken was tastefully marinated. A little salty if you eat it alone. Pretty good if you eat it when the bread! Hehs. Woooo! Seems that I'm really not a great fan of patty meat. Haha. Kelvin actually urm, associated with the mushroom swiss burger from BK. HOLY MOLLY! Hahaha!!

By the way, did you notice that some of us have sides on our plate but some don't? Hehs. You just have to add $2.50 to get the sides. The salads was super super super nice! I love the sauce. My god!! (Hey, if you still don't know me well enough, I hate vegetables but suddenly love vegetables now. Haha! So, it was quite amazing to hear me say, THE SALADS IS SO NICE!)

But back to the salad sauce. It tasted a little sour, sweet, plum taste. Woo. NICE! Hehs. And the whipped potato was good! The sauce is nice! Went together well enough! Haha.

I love sausages. I really do. But, I preferred big big sausages. Wooo. But I have yet to really eat them around. Soon. Hehs. I know there is but I never go to the places to eat. Haha. This sausage has a very tricky name. Haha. And it's the specials of the day. So, urm, ya. Please ask the waitress to give you some recommendations. Hahaha!

I like it. But apparently, I was the only one who really like it. Hahaha! I thought it was soft and juicy enough. But they don't really like the taste of it. Weng don't like black pepper taste. Hehs. Sorry but my man (the meat lover) was not around to taste it. He would have given me a better feedback. Ha!

The pork and cheese sausage bun. Woooo! NICE! The sausage was really good! It was very well-received by the whole table! Ahh! We should have gone ahead to ordering this instead of the above sausage. Seems that knowing how to pronounce those words are better choices after all. LOL!

The sausage was soft enough for my liking. And the cheese will be somewhere in the sausage. And the taste, the texture was good. YUMS!

I heard that this is good for the burgers. Hehs. Not too bad I guess. But, I think the other burgers tasted better than the beef burgers. Haha. I would love to go there for more sausages. Haha. It's a meat place after all! But do note that it can get a little smoking because of the grilling from the kitchen. We have no idea why. HAHA!
