I always like Qi Ji's Poh Piah. (Please note that the photos are pretty lousy because I erm, did not have my camera at that time! ARGH!)
In case you have not heard of poh piah, it's actually a Chinese snack with a thin flour skin (aka poh piah skin) wrapped with cooked turnip, peanuts, beansprout, vegetable and THE sauce. I used to only like the skin but recently, I have took a liking towards eating the entire thing!
Well, for a poh piah to be deemed as nice, I would think that it have to be wrapped tightly enough. There are people who is unable to do that and thus the entire poh piah will just fall apart and you are just eating all the constituents individually. Well, I'm sure you are not asking for that kind of experience if you are actually eating poh piah!
For Qi Ji, I think they did it pretty well. There's this crispy thing inside that add to the overall attractiveness of it. Another place that contains this crispy thing is at the Whampo hawker center. I had this once upon a time (girls, let's go and eat it someday).
And of course, the sauce and the turnip was cooked nicely. I loveee it!
Another thing that I like from Qi Ji is the nasi lemak! Nice chicken, nice rice! Yum yum!! I like!!
This one is pretty easy to find because they have quite a few branches all over Singapore. =D

Pineapple Tarts from Taiwan!
Hehs. I was instructed to buy some local food back from Taiwan but I did not managed to go out shopping (BOOOO!!!). And so, I had to accomplish all my missions at the duty free shops. Haha. Yes, I raided the airport at the very last hour at Taiwan before returning to Singapore. HAHAHAHA!
Welllllll........ This was one of the thing that I bought it because I wanted to buy it and not because someone asked me to get it. Hehs. Pineapple tarts! The pineapple tarts in Taiwan is different from the ones we eat during CNY in Singapore. Haha. And I think they were really great.
And, how can I reject one with Mickey and Minne on it? Lol. And with all the sales girl using their life to endorse it. And when one girl told me that it's SO HOT online and it's almost impossible to get it. Lol.
The box is really cute!
And here's the inner packaging. Well, that's Mickey's head isn't it?? Hehs.
Tadang!
Well, I have to say, this is very very different from the pineapple tarts that I have gotta last time. There's a layer of sesame which is pretty fragrant to me. And the pastry is the crispy kind! But it will get really flaky. Another selling point of the tart is supposed to be the pineapple filling. Most of the other fillings have winter melon mixed in. This one is pure pineapple. And we can bite some of the puree.
But then, I find it a tad too sweet. I would really love it more if it's less sweet. Hehs. Not too bad if you ask me. However, it's not something that I would use my life to endorse. Hahahahaha! I think the vigor's pineapple tarts are way better. So, if you ever go Taiwan, look out for the vigor's pastries! They are really goood! Even my parents who don't really eat this kinda of stuffs agreed with me. PLUS, they don't bear to give the tarts away because they want to eat it. Haha. I'll find myself a chance to go back to Taipei and hopefully I'm able to buy them!
Oh by the way, if you are interested in trying this, I bought it at the Tao Yuan Airport T2's duty free shop. I cannot remember the exact shop name, but just turn right and go down once you clear the immigration. It's the first shop that sells Taiwan local food. Haha. I love that shop because I managed to find loads of Pooh Pooh stuffs from there! Ha!
=D

胡椒饼 (Hu Jiao Bing/Pepper Pie?!)
Ok, this is such a random post. I know. But seriously, I was looking through my old travel photos and saw this photo again! Slurps slurps.

This is definitely something that my dear and I loves the most from Taipei. Haha. It was oh-so-great. Till now, we would think of it occasionally and we just longed to go back to Taipei for it. Haha!

I cannot be sure about the other places that sells this hu jiao bing. But what I can be sure of is that this shop actually sells super delicious hu jiao bing. The meat is really juicy and succulent. Juice really can come out of it! Plus! The vegetables (that you cannot see from the photo) added a lot of flavor to the peppery taste of the meat. And we cannot forget the crust! It's oh-my-god....... Haha. Heavenly. Slurps slurps.
And what's more, the whole thing was piping hot when we bought it (we went twice on two separate days and they tasted the same!). What can be more perfect than this when you are feeling so cold from the rain? Haha.
Ok, after saying so much and possibly making you salivate, do I have to tell you where we bought it? Lol! It's at Taipei (uh-oh, there's no hu jiao bing in Singapore!). Exact address, I'm not too sure. But we took the MTR to the 国父纪念馆 and came out at the exit 3 (I hope it's the right one!) and then walk away from the bubble tea shop and then towards the traffic light or the 50lan bubble tea shop. Hehs. (By the way, we chance upon this shop! Lol!)
The shop front look like this:

Try their sweet potato if you want! It's uber sweet and terribly soft and nice. ME LOVEEE!

I am quite sure that there are other stalls selling this. And this is definitely not the stall that had been starred on the television before. But me think it is really super duper uber nice and that you have to try it. And please, eat it for me if you are at taipei. =D

Old Town Coffee and Toast cafe, Soup Spoon and Ikea
I fell in love with Old Town the last time I went to Genting. Ah dear was sooooo hungry the moment we touched down, and so he bought quite a lot of Old Town toast. My god, I remembered it was an agonizing long wait for the toast! But hey, it was really nice! =D And then when we reached Genting, we bought more again! Me like me like! Hehs.
Old Town started off from Malaysia, but now, you can find their instant coffee everywhere! But hmm, I'm not a great fan of coffee. I don't like the smell of it. BUT! I thought the white coffee was NICE! Haha. And, it was a great companion in the cold cold Genting. Haha.
So, I got really happy when I saw it in Singapore! Haha. I went to get some toasts to calm my growling stomach since I was at NTU the other day. =D Oh, that made me really happy even though I'm supposed to be on a strict diet. Hahaha!
In case you are looking for the branch in JP, here's the address. It's neatly tucked away on the top front, near the NTUC xtra. Hehs.
Well, as I was saying, I was on a strict diet. So, I only ordered one toast (it was a taboo too cos that's not liquid diet at all!) and no white coffee (I cannot take caffeine products). I was happy enough!
Seriously, I had long forgotten the taste of the toast. The last time I tasted it seems so long ago. Haha. So, I only remembered it as very nice. But, I expected the taste of a normal toast. Oh, but the moment I bite in, I have to go 'Ohhhhhhh....'. (If you know me well enough, ya, I gave that lighted up face that I always give when I eat something nice. Hahaha!) Ya, alone, in the middle of JP2. Lol!
I'm seriously craving for moreeeeeee.
==========================================================================
I love going to Ikea. Not because of furniture, not because of meatballs and chicken wings, but because of THIS! My favourite hot dog bun! Haha. Actually, I think it's not too difficult to find hotdog buns like this around. But, since we are near Ikea, I have an excuse to eat a hotdog bun that can make me smile non-stop. =D So, why not? Hehs.
I love steam bread! Because they are always so soft and yummy!
==========================================================================
Went to soup spoon on Friday after Ikea since there's buses to Vivo. BOO! That's not exactly what I would love to eat when I'm at Vivo city! Haha. But well, considering that I should attempt to eat as much healthy food that's smoothing to my stomach, OK FINE!
But erm, no, I wun want to go back there for dinner anytime in future. Seriously, I felt really miserable through the entire dinner. You should ask Ah dear for my gloomy face la. Haha.
The main reason why I felt miserable was seriously not because the soup is not nice. But mainly because I need more texture other than plain soup for a meal. If it's the starters, I would not mind that much. Oh, blame it on my stomach. Haha!
That's ah dear's clam chowder. Quite nice! Haha. At least there are ingredients to chew chew chew. Hehs.
My pumpkin soup (because ah dear say I cannot eat tomato. BOO!). Grrrr... I want MEAT! Or at least vegetables! Haha. It was a little sweet. Hehs. First few mouths were really good. I got so sick and tired of the taste after some time. I didn't finish the whole bowl. Haha.
Please do not ask me there to drink soup for dinner again!
==========================================================================
Realized something? My main reviews are on bread bread and more bread! Lol! This explains how much I love eating bread. Hehs.
