Chong Pang Nasi Lemak II

Well, I paid another visit to our supper place again! So, haha, can I just show off the photos I took with my Nexy?

I always find this place amazing. They called it nasi lemak. Well, it still look like Chinese food to me. No? Lol. But I guess, it's the rice that gave the name! Haha. It's not common to have Chinese cooking really nice nasi lemak. However, I think this place did it well enough. I was scooping spoons and spoons of rice into my mouth. LOL!

The chicken wings will never fail you. Hehs. It's oh-so-nice! Even though it was supposed to be my bedtime, I erm, cannot stand the smell and taste and temptations.

This has to be one of my top favorite too! They called it the mermaid. Urm, for what reason, I have no idea. But this is crispy and cooked with the sweet and hot sauce. A little spicy, but I LOVE IT!

We have to eat vegetables!

The typical Chinese nasi lemak/ fry been hoon selection.

This is the culprit. Ha. It was super fragrant! Once again, I was sniffing and sniffing the air for the chicken wing's fragrant the entire journey back home. Ha! Lovely. And it was still crispy when we ate it at home. =D

I haven't get the chance to try all the other dishes because I really love the things I order all the time. And, I don't get to go down to the place that often! LOL! But heys, getting hungry in the middle of the night is no longer a terrible thing. We get to eat yummy food!!

Eateries outside the Cheng Huang Temple at Hsin-chu City

I loveeee this place. For the food, and for the temple of course (I'm a great temple hopping fan.)

You yu gen. Hehs. I loveee this. It's the same soup as shark fins minus the shark fins. Ha. I love the crispy thing and all the ingredients in the soup. Woo. Yum yum yum. Best thing on a cold weather I believe!

Ahh.. I cannot miss this when I come here. Gong Wang Tang! Hehs. Well, I know I know, it's just like our pork balls. BUT! It's so much bigger and bouncier and yummier. Hah. I think the basil leaves contributed a lot to the soup. It's the taiwanese's favorite qiu cheng ta~

My favorite Hsin-chu Mifen! Hehs. Texture, sauce, taste. Woooo! Mama can't cook the same thing even when I brought the same mee hoon back the last time. Ha! So, I have to eat here. LOL!

All were ordered from this corner shop at the back of the photo. Haha. This is what surrounds the temple's door. Hehs.

I have no idea what's the address. I always tell the taxi driver "Uncle, Cheng Huang Miao please."

Ha!

Ghim Moh Hawker Center

It's been really long since we last went there for lunch. Oh, it's still as yum yum as possible. Should I just let the picutres do the talking??

They are the reasons why hawker centers never get extinct no matter how bad the hygiene gets at time. With just a bit of money, you get to enjoy such yummy food. My gooooodness. Hehs. You know, I'm a more hawker type of person...... Hehs.

Kway Chap at Holland Market

Remember I once talked about the duck rice from Holland market? Well, here's the kway chap the same shop sells!

If I'm not wrong, some places actually ask you if you would like a big bowl or a small bowl. But apparently, this stall sells a default size. Haha. Most guys are not full from just this one serving of kway chap.
The kway chap.

But I do think that their serving for all the intestines, pork, braised eggs, salty vegetables etc are pretty big. This is the plate of goodies you will get just by ordering for one person! It's like, ALOT ALOT! Haha. And it's just $2.80! So cheap hor?

It may not be exceptionally nice, but it's a really nice thing to have for lunch! The food is good enough to make me happy. The intestines were pretty Q and the sauce they braised their stuffs are good.

But my top favourite is their chilli. The a little sour, a little spicy kinda chilli. Yum. Dipping their food with this chilli just made life much better than it its. Ha!

Don't forget to check it out! But do note that the waiting time is a little long for this stall. Be it ordering the duck rice or the kway chap. Hehs.

Duck Rice at Holland Market

I love going to the Holland Market for lunch when I'm free! That's because I can save quite a bit of lunch money. In addition, I can get better hawker food! Wooohooo!

One of my favorite stalls there have to be the duck rice stall. You will notice that many of the tables have red plates/bowls on their tables. Well, that's because, a lot of people actually order from them! There's always a looooong queue. Well, not a visible queue because they offer to bring the dishes to you instead. And you will know there is a loooooong queue because we have to wait exceptionally looooong for the food and that you will see a lot of 'waiting numbers' at the stall itself.

I love the kway chap, but maybe we should leave this to another time. Let's talk about the duck rice first.

The last time we went there, we ordered half a duck with several other side dishes since we have a party of 4. Well, inclusive of 5 rice and a lot of soup, it only cost us $19.60 (if I did not remember wrongly).

Well, braised egg is always a must for me when I order duck rice most of the time. Haha. I love it despite the fact that I usually leave the yolk out. Haha. They all taste the same to me, so I have no much comments about it. But I love the eggs with darker colors. The ones that my mama braised at home is usually very lightly colored. LOL.

Ok, that aside, the main thing is our duckie!

Ok, the presentation may not be very pretty (oh come on, what do you really expect from hawker centers?!). BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT! Once you taste it, you'll realize that the meat is pretty tender. I like I like! I've recommended a few friends to try it and they also felt the same thing. WOOHOO! Yums.

And what's more, I love the rice (sorry, I forgot to take a photo of it. LOL!). Rice grains itself is pretty normal I think. But they spread a gravy on top of the rice to make it taste really nice. Well, I personally like to have gravy or soup over my rice. And that's why it's my cup of tea. SO! If you like dry rice, I guess, you may not enjoy it ba.

Yum yums!

And well, when I eat alone, I will tend to order a plate with an egg. That's about $2.80 if I did not remember wrongly. WHERE CAN YOU FIND SUCH CHEAP FOOD NOWADAYS?! Haha.

Nearest MRT: Buona Vista Station
Direction: Walk out of the station and cross the road somehow. Walk towards the market. The hawker center is at level 2. There should be only one stall selling duck rice and kway chap.

Rasa Sayang @ AMK S11

I said I'll go back and try the western food stall at Ang Mo Kio (S11 along the road). I only have to say, I regretted my choice.

In my memory, it was really great. And the queues were always very long. But I was so disappointed. It used to be so good.

I had the black pepper pork chop. Mama thinks that the black pepper was not very peppery. I thought that the meat was not soft enough.

Ah Dear had the chicken chop sphagetti. He thought it was ok, I thought it was so normal. I thought the meat was tough was I tried it. And the spaghetti was pretty normal.

I think the photos look better than it tasted.

But I have to say. The weather was pretty cold and windy and we were sitting right in front of the fan. So that could have made the food cool down TOO QUICKLY. And as a result, all taste is gone. I was so digusted by the fries that I actually lose my appetite the moment I thought of fries and potato was I was buying Popeyes for my brother. (If you had known me well enough, you would know that I love potatoes so much that I cannot live without it right?)

But urm, I have no idea if it is the temperature of the food or the real taste of the food. No, I don't think I would patronize it in any near future. =( Where was the nice western food I was going back for?

Chong Pang Nasi Lemak

I think this place is famous enough. Right? Or was it because we live at the North Area? Haha. I've heard about it so many times but I had never ever tried it. And so, we decided to buy it for supper!! =D

Took a bus to Chong Pang and then walk down the road to the place. Oh, it was not as far as I had assumed it was. Either that or I had great company. =D

Like expected, there's a queue. Lol. But because we went around 9, it was not that bad. Hehs. Soon, I get to look at the selection of dishes!

Seriously, I assumed nasi lemak to be just great rice, great chili, great chicken wing and great ikan bilis. But hohoho, the Chinese version had made it into a wide selection of dishes! Haha. Which is good, because we can try new things. But it is bad too, because I'm bad at selecting dishes because I want everything! Hehs.

Heh. Their fried stuffs look really great you know?! And they just cook and cook and cook nonstop behind the scene.

My stomach was not receptive to food at that time, so we packed it home. Hehs. That was a crazy move because the smell of the chicken wing keep disturbing us on the bus ride home. Hahahaha. We will converse a while and end up saying '很香吼?' (smells great right?). It's so disturbing!! LOL!

So tadang, this was what we had chosen. I simply love that ikan bilis look alike thing. So crunchy and delicious. Haha. The otar was pretty normal. And the prawn, we were quite shocked that they gave us 2! Most places will only give one, isn't it? Hehs. But the first bite was great, the second bite onwards, no, it wasn't that great anymore. A little nua I would say. Too much flour that was not well fried?

But the chili was good!!! I always say that so long the chili is nice, I can just finish my whole plate of plain rice with the chili. =D

And the rice. Gosh. It's so fragrant and yummy!! This is another determining factor of a great nasi lemak!

And the main character has to our chicken wing. Haha. Although we've decided to share a pack of the rice, we were determined not to share our wings. Lol! So we got one each. Haha. It's still so crispy after a bus ride home. And even until papa came home, it was still crispy! The meat was succulent. The skin was nice. Wah, I wanted to finish all the wings myself! Hehs. Of course I did not. Lol..

Yes, I would definitely go back again. Haha. Oh, did I ever mentioned that the whole supper only cost $9.60? We got 2 packs of the rice and 4 wings. Boy, I was surprised that I can pay every with just a $10 note. Hahaha! I expected more! LOL!

Chocolat N` Spice II

=D

I had an entry on the muffins from the Chocolat N` Spice some time back. But I have to do another entry! Because, I just bought MORE MUFFINS from there!

But before we move on to the muffins, I have to complain a little about finding this shop. Okay, it was my bad that I had assumed things. Haha. Well, the address says Tanjong Pagar Plaza. So, after staying in Singapore for so long, I've already grown to assume that something something plaza means a shopping center that's air conditioned. God. No. I went to the wrong building. Haha.

Next, after finally realizing my mistake, I followed the trail of the people holding the plastic bag from choc and spice (Yesh, there's quite a few people who bought the muffins back to the office.). I end up at the neighborhood place. WHAT?!! You call this a plaza?! Ok fine. I end up walking the wrong direction. After drenching myself in sweat, I found out that, okay, I'm at block 7 and the place is at block 1. !!!!

So, please get the address of the Tanjong Pagar Branch properly! Take the train to Tanjong Pagar and then exit from the exit to the plaza. And walk towards the old old neighborhood kinda structure. And then, blk 1 is towards your left. Haha. DO NOT WALK TO THE RIGHT! Lol!
Blk 1 Tanjong Pagar Plaza #01-18

Ok, enough said.

Well, the first time I tried the muffins, it was bought by Ailin. So I had absolutely no idea what I would expect at the place itself! Haha. When I FINALLY found the place, I was so amazed! It was just a small little shop that is mainly set up for baking. And the people take our muffins right down from the racks (this means it's freshly baked!) and into our boxes. No wonder there's a such a long queue waiting for their muffins!! Woohoo! (Oh, a thing to note is that the queue should be the longest around lunch hours as people buy the muffins back for coffee break! Lol!)

I seriously did not want to buy a lot. But I was really very frustrated by the sweat I have, I bought 10 in the end. =D Most of the muffins cost $1.20. I think it's pretty cheap compared to the other muffins you find around Singapore and which did not taste half as nice.

This time round, I tried other flavors! I bought blueberry.

The texture of the muffin is the selling point of the muffin. Haha. It's so soft and smooth. *Salivate* And another thing that had me hooked was that they put the right amount of ingredients inside the muffin. Too much of the ingredients will make you feel that you are not eating the muffins, and too little will make you yearn for more! Haha. Look at the blueberry! (I admit, I took the side with most berries. Hahaha!)

Another thing that I had realized was that, the cup of the muffins can come off really easily. Haha. Ok, it's a plus point to me (and maybe just me). I love to take off the cup first so that I can bite into the muffins directly! Haha! See how neat the peel off of the cup is. Haha.

I also tried the orange peel with raisins (and almonds).

Initially when I open up the muffin, I was thinking, oh, the ingredients are pretty little huh?

I swallowed my words the moment I bite into the muffins with that orange peel. Haha. The taste will stay in your mouth for a while, at least until you bite into the next orange peel. Do you understand what I am saying about the muffins having the right amount of ingredients? If it had loaded more orange peel in, the entire muffin will be destroyed with too much of the orange taste! Haha. Yums!

The first muffin I tried was the banana and walnut muffin. I was totally blown over by it. =D

Don't be deceived by the plain look. I was really amazed when I started eating it. There's alot of banana inside! And the crunchiness of the walnut just perfected the taste. Woohoo! Erm, no photos of the inside because I had no hands to take photo of the first one I ate, and I have no idea who ate the second one. Haha. This is one of my top top flavorite! =D

And I also bought coconut, pumpkin and cheese. I have no idea who ate which and when they ate it and no one gave me reviews over it. So, next time! Haha. They actually have 18-19 flavors all together I think.

And of course, I did not forget about buying the chocolate chips and the double chocolates that will never ever go wrong. YUMS! You can be sure it's nice because even dear's mummy says it is. LOL! And that my muffins are missing one by one without me knowing it. Lol. And of course, because my dear says so too. The chocolates that melt in your mouth. Wah. My god. Slurps. I prefer double chocolates over the chocolate chips. Hehs. The chocolates. OMG! (The reason why I am having a sore throat now. BOO!)

Anyway, the opening hours are from 930 to 530 on weekdays and it closes at 230 on Saturday and it is not opened on Sunday. You can also visit the Shunfu road stall. It's at the hawker center.

This is really the best muffin in Singapore. =D

Chicken Chop at Bukit Batok S11

Tried the chicken chop at the S11 at Bukit Batok Central (it was just up the stairs and across the street from the interchange). The sauce was pretty nice and I like the grilled part of the meat. But the beans were a little hard and I personally find the serving a little small for $5.50. Or is this the normal price now? Haha. I haven't been eating chicken chops at coffee shops in a long time!

Nothing extraordinary, but it will be not too bad a try if you are just around the corner and is craving for some western food. Haha.

Vegetarian Bee Hoon @ Holland Market

It's been a long time since I last went to Holland Market for lunch!

Today, we decided to give the vegetarian bee hoon our first try. Why? Firstly, it was just next to our table. Secondly, it was having a queue. Like, wow! A queue has to mean something right??? LOL!

Guess what? The whole plate only costs $2! So cheap! Hohohoho! Plus, it was so loaded with all the ingredients!! So value for money right???!! Hahaha. So, I begin to wonder. Was there a queue because of the price, or was it because everyone thinks its nice, or was it because people are queuing? Haha.

Well, it tasted like a normal vegetarian bee hoon to me. I was hoping that the sauce could be a little saltier though. That aside, it was pretty good, for a price of $2. Oh, I like the cripsy 'crackers' though. It may be because I was deprived of fried food for too long. Haha. But I feel that a lot of places don't sell it crispy anymore. They always sell it soggy because it was standing in their stall for too long! For this shop, I can see that the food don't stand in the stall for too long because the orders just keep coming and coming. YEA! (For the auntie and uncle of course!)

I liked the sugar cane because it tasted like sugar cane! Lol. Most of the places are selling the drink in a diluted form. And oh, the reason why I ordered this was because my parents say "THIS IS GOOD FOR GASTRIC!!" I do anything to get myself a healthy GI tract! Hehs.

So, the lunch left me as a happy Kelly! (Even though I did not managed to finish the bee hoon. Oh, even Jon had to agree that the serving was pretty big!)

Sembawang Bai Mi Fen

I've passed this place like so many times but I never went in. Because it's either I have other agenda or because I just feel like eating something else suddenly. But yesterday, we finally went to Sembawang just for Bai Mi Fen after hearing the reviews about it. Plus, it went onto the newspaper the other day too! And oh, not to mention, there's a direct shuttle service from Ah dear's house, so, why not? Hehs.

This place is situated opposite the Sembawang Shopping center. To get there, you can catch the shuttle service from Yishun/Sembawang MRT station. Or take buses like 858, 856, etc. LOL! (What a great guide huh?) Just look across the street, you should be able to catch their signboard!

Oh, look at the crowd!

They came up with a system. And that is to go to the back to order and get a queue number. Hmmm, we realized ar. It's not first come first serve basis. It's first order first serve basis! So we got ourselves a queue number and just stand around waiting to be seated. That's why we call popularity huh.

The auntie in red is the staff. Hehs. Remember to walk to the back! Because some people actually stood near the front, which is around their signboard to wait for an empty table! No, it doesn't work this way! =D

And finally, we were seated. Hehs. Food arrival takes really really long, considering that we had ordered and waited for quite some time before being seated. Oh wells, you just have to wait for good food, I guess.

And tadang, the time when our utensils and chili were placed on our table, I got happy. Haha. Oh, the chili smells really nice! But when I tasted it, oh, it's spicy man! Hahaha. (Did you notice a smiley face?)

After some time, our first dish appeared. Oh, we did not order this actually. We only ordered the famous bai mi fen and the salt and pepper prawns because I thought I should still control a little on my diet. Hehs. They had a mixed up with the orders. But, oh wells, we have to eat this fried squid. BUT OH MY GOD! It was the nicest fried squid I had ever had!! It was not too dry like most of the fried stuffs. And, the squid itself was really fresh and soft. LIKE LIKE LIKE! Lucky for the mixed up! Hehs. Oh, This whole plate cost $8.

And then, after quite some time, our prawns finally came. It tasted great! But, I seriously don't like to peel prawn shells in public sia.. Hehs. And, I think, after un-shelling the prawn, the nice taste of the dish is gone. Just like how cereal prawn operates. Lol. Not too bad. I think this was $12. Haha.

And finally, the baby of the restaurant! Bai Mi Fen (白米粉 or white bee hoon)! Hehs. Wooooo. The texture of the bee hoon was a texture that I had never tasted before sia. Hmm. It's soft and easy to eat. More lime and gravy will be even better. I thought it tasted a little like sa cum mai though. You have to try it to understand the taste itself. Haha! I see that almost every (or all the) tables ordered it! And they finished till the last strand sia.. Haha. But we did not because the portion was too big to be managed by the both of us!

That was a great dinner! Haha. Because I had no major uncomfort after the meal. Woohoo! But at least I took a little caution and stop eating when I start feeling full. Hehs. Wooohooo! I'm so going to bring my parents there one day. (I've actually done it, but I've always end our dinner somewhere else instead. Muahahahaha! Next time! I promise! Hehs)
