Jumbo @ East Coast Park

Yet another seafood place. Well, when we are real stuck for Chinese restaurants (all the time when I bring my parents out), we have to head somewhere like this.

So, here we go.

The only thing that I picked! Hooray! I love baby squids!!! Yum yum. I love it. The sweet and spicy sauce and the crispy bbq squid. I think not everyone like it as much as I do, because I ate most them. Haha.

The pork floss toufu is not too bad too! I like the crispy skin and the sweet and spicy sauce that was below the toufu (more spicy than the baby squid). Yum yum. The pork floss did not bland very well with the toufu though. (Please note that we should have 9 pieces on the plate. Food was taken away before I can snap my photo!!!!)

Duck was pretty soft but I find the meat a little rough. Not something that I would expect from the thigh. Apparently, not the entire thigh was that rough. Pick properly! The sauce was good. I'm scared of mushrooms now. Haha.

Oh, the BBQ fish was great! Everyone was singing praises of it!! Nicely BBQ and the taste that went into the fish was great. It was the best dish as practically nothing was left at the end of the dinner. Haha.

Salted egg crab. My impression is that there should be more pork floss around. No? Hmm. Taste was not bad but the crab was not fresh enough. Ok, it was fresh but still, it sticks to the shell. Not something that I would expect from the amount of money I paid for. Ha.

This was the vegetable tempura that came with the crab. Oh, it reminds me of the Kan Eang at Phuket. The Phuket one was much better. This just tasted like a normal fried flour?

Chili crab with the bun at a distant. The crab was really fresh. I would say it is nice if I had not ate the ones at Auntie's place. There's not enough sweetness (tomato sauce I guess) and too much chili for this recipe. It's was a little disappointing for me. But the freshness of the big big crab made up a little of course.

Overall, I am not going to return unless I run out of Chinese restaurants again. But seriously, we do have quite a lot of places like Pu Tien that is so much better. I cannot say I did not enjoy the dinner because I did like the food albeit it was not fantastic. And the cost dimmed the entire thing by ALOT ALOT! I think I do not enjoy seafood as much as before now. Ha.

Wild Honey @ Mandarin Gallery

I have been craving for American breakfast since long long time ago. I want big big sausage, yummy scrambled egg, potatoes, good bread. Not too difficult to ask for I would say. But it gets a little difficult if you are never up/ at the restaurant when they are still serving breakfast.

So, Wild Honey to the rescue! Woohoo! It serves full day breakfast. So even if I want to eat it after work, it's perfectly ok!! And yeap, that was what I did! Hehs.

Beware of the queue man. Because it is opened till 1030, I suggest that you can reach around 9. So that you don't have to wait for more than 1 hour for it. This long wait is the only complain I can think of.

Ok, that was nothing to do with the review, but I like them! The sugar cubes look so nice. Haha. And okay, I was actually a little bored waiting for my food. Haha.

Tadang. Dish number one. Cookie. This cookie actually cost $4 each. I have no idea why, but we paid for it glady. Hehs.

So, it has chocolate coating on half the cookie. The other side of the cookie also have half coated with chocolates. Hehs. I guess this would make sure that we are not overloaded with chocolates. Because this is the first thing we have after such a long wait, I approach it with weary. Haha. It turned out to be really good! Woohoo!

Softness was good. It can be broken with the spoon and scooped to the mouth. And it's not like the soggy softness you know? Haha. It was good. Yum yum!

And then we realized that hey! There's maple syrup between the 2 cookies! And we don't find the whole thing very sweet. Hehs. Nice. First step to heaven.

Apparently this Queen B is one of the most popular mocktail at Wild Honey. We ordered it and it tasted really different. Haha. It has grapefruit and something. First mouth was "Eh? Hmm." After that, it became "Hmm. Nice! Hahaha."

And now, the most anticipated moment.

First, my craving was satisfied with the English breakfast. Everything that I had asked for. Or even more than I had. Because it had nice sauteered mushrooms and yummy baked beans. Haha. My goodness. This is huge! We are in heaven. Hahahahaha.

I was hooked by the potatoes. Nicely baked and the sprinkle of salt on it made it tasted really good. You can taste the salt but you won't complain about it because it was that which made it yums.

The sausage was heavenly. Seriously. Crunchy on the outside because of the grilled skin. Tight and woooo on the inside. It was thick as I wanted it. But too bad. It was a little small. Especially when 4 people are sharing it. Hahaha! But I think we can order a side order for the sausage. Good. I will do it. Haha!

The mushrooms were a surprise. Nicely flavored and grilled. Wooo!

Scrambled egg. Not very special but it was important in this entire English breakfast. My god.

I did not managed to take a photo of the baked beans. It was so special! A little spicy and it was really big! Nothing like the normal baked beans they use from cans! Woohoo! YUMMMMMMS! I love the English breakfast! And the bread that came along was really good. I always love steamed bread more than toasted bread. But this combination was too good to be true. Lightly toasted on the outside but the softness of the bread inside was not sacrificed. This is crazy. Oh, the bacon too! It's oh my god. A little too salty for my liking but if I eat it with other things then, it's heavenly! Best bacon I have ever tasted. I want to bring the chef home. Haha.

Please note that we are already in heaven. So, the remaining dishes kept us in heaven for a long long time. Haha.

Next up, the Tunisian breakfast. Oh god. How can all the spices fuse together like this? It has 2 fried eggs, some sausages (goood!!). Don't underestimate it. My goodness. Take the nicely toasted bread and dip into the sauce. You will scream "I'm in heaven!". Hahaha. Ok, I think most of the people are not exactly as dramatic as me, but you get the gist here.

Taken from their menu: Canadian - A stack of classic pancakes served with wild berry and hibiscus compote, Canadian maple syrup and bacon.

Understatement I would say. It should read: Canadian - A stack of classic super fluffy and soft pancakes served with crazily nice and tastefully done wild berry and hibiscus compote, terribly nice Canadian maple syrup and out of the world delicious bacon. This was the best bacon that I had tasted in my life. I'm serious. Because of this, 3 of us had a new respect for pigs. Haha. I like this bacon more than the English breakfast because it's not that salty. When we eat it with the pancakes and pour maple syrup over it and then top it up with a little berries, you will scream "I'M IN HEAVEN!". Haha. Max prefers the English breakfast bacon because it's more fatty. Haha.
Last one, Belgian breakfast. The waffles were crazily fluffy and soft. The coconut cream was just nice. Not too thick or what as YX had feared. Mangoes were terribly sweet. Blueberries were like berries lo. Toasted coconut flakes went really well with the waffles. My goodness. If you know me and YX well enough, you will know how much we love and worship flour products. Hahaha. This got us crazy as well.

All of us were in heaven. The entire meal put too much food to shame. And it gave a new meaning to pigs. Thank you for your sacrifice. And please, do not destroy all the wheat on Earth for we will definitely cry and die. Haha.

*Smiling so happily before we attacked the food because we were already very amazed with the whole presentation of the food. Spend quite a fair bit of money on breakfast ($30 each) but we paid happily. It was definitely all worth it. Service there was good as well. Staff were helpful. Lighting was a little too dark for a breakfast place (and thus lousy food photos). But good for after work. Haha. Not a lot of photos taken because I HAVE TO ATTACK THE FOOD! Haha.

Will definitely pull more people there again. It's highly highly highly recommended! Please go!!

Address: Mandarin Gallery #03-02
Note: No reservation. You have to wait terribly long! Haha. Try to go real early or real late. Hehs.

Pu Tien @ Kitchener Road

Not too sure if you guys have noticed it, but there's quite a lot of Pu Tien branches around Singapore now. Hehs.

I thought the deco of the restaurant usually look pretty nice. Haha. But I had never ever entered it before. And since I was looking out for a Chinese restaurant to bring my family for my birthday, why not? And the flagship shop should be the best. So, off we went! =D

It wasn't really nice to be munching on these peanuts because we have to peel it. Haha. I'm super lazy you know? But I think, the peanuts are actually better than the canned ones that we usually eat. LOL!

The captain kept asking us to order the set meal for 8 because it is actually more economical for us. And they actually gave us the choice to exchange some dishes on the set with other things that we want. I thought that was really nice because I did not wanted the set for it does not contain some of the things I wanted to eat! Haha.

We took the 198 set. And it came with 4 appetizers.

'Cold-Duck'
I forgot the name for it le. Haha. Xian Shui Ya? Haha. Should be ba. Well, it's a cold dish, and Lotus actually said that the duck was not cooked! LOL! But heys, this was nice! Nicely flavored! Yums. My man's favourite out of the 4.

Seaweed
We added this dish at the last minute. Boy, thank god we did it. Haha. I love it! It has a very nice aroma. The crispy small prawns on top made the taste even better!

Braised Pig Intestines
Woah. I love this! The intestines is so biong-biong! Hahaha.

Cockles
Woah. This was the top of everyone's must eat when we open the menu. Haha. And it turned out to be pretty good! Hassle-free too! We don't have to peel it like when we are eating it at home or at hawker center. Hehs. YumS!

And that's only the appetizers ok? I was already feeling really happy and contented!

Fish with peas
The fish was really really soft. I like it! And I wonder how did they get the proportions of the sauce? It's almost perfect I would say!! Haha.

Shark fins
I'm not really a fan of shark fins, mainly because I don't like the thought of the sharks being preyed because of the fins. And also I am such a commoner that I don't really enjoy these kinda shark fins. I prefer those that we cook at home, or rather those that resembles dong fen. Haha. Not too bad though.

Steamed Prawns
I'm seriously not fans of prawns when I'm outside because I don't like to dirty my hands. Haha. But they sorta shelled it, so it is possible for us to peel it using the chopsticks and the spoon. But the thing is that ar, it is still a little difficult to do it. Maybe it's that fresh ba. Haha. Pretty normal I think.

Lychee Pork
This is crazyly nice! Haha. I loveeee it! Not just because of the flavoring, but because I think the meat was so soft. My mama don't like it because she find it too soft though. Well, it all depends on individuals ar.. But the thing is that, we do agree upon the fact that the meat is soft! Haha. I exchanged this with some vegetables on the set menu. Which was really nice of them to allow it! =D I'm going to order this again, definitely! YumS!

Stir-fried yam
This is another signature dish of Pu Tien. And damn, it's not found on the set menu too! Haha. So wells, we ordered it as an ala carte. Hohohoho! First mouth and I'm hooked! The yam inside was sorta mashed. And then the outer layer was not cripsy but hard enough to make it a nice texture. And there's a sweet coating around it. I felt that I was on heaven. LOL! I wanted to finish the entire plate myself. Well, if I had space in my stomach of course. Haha. Lotus love this too! Haha.

Pu Tien Lor Mee
Yea. This is another signature dish. I actually thought that it was not too bad even though the rest thought that it was pretty normal. But I was very amazed with the ingredients they use because I found clams and dried scallops inside! Woah! The noodles they use and the color of the dish is very different from the normal lor mee we eat outside. I welcome the change. But, I still love the vinegar taste from the convention lor mee.

Garlic Spring Chicken
Nothing much about this chicken. But no complains of course! The skin is crispy enough, which is good. The meat was pretty tender too. Maybe because I ate the drumstick? Haha!

Fungus with lotus seeds
The collagen loaded dessert! Haha. I welcome the refreshing coldness of the dessert. Haha. I like the texture and I think the sweetness was just right for me. Yums.

Oh, did I mentioned that the chrysanthemum tea was really nice? Haha!

Well, I spend a total of $260 to feed 7 adults and 1 child till their tummies and shirts nearly exploded. LOL! Although we may be able to find some buffet places around this price, I still think, I would choose this. Haha. One, my parents prefer Chinese food. Two, I go for quality and not quantity. I wonder how does the Pu Tien buffet fares though. It's around $40 per pax I heard. Haha. Not ready to do it though. I can never survive in buffets. Hahaha!

I would label this place as a must-try! I cannot promise you the quality of other branches of course. But the Kitchener Road branch left us really happy and satisfied. My god. Haha. All their dishes' seasoning was so fine-tuned. Be it sweetness, sourness, saltiness. Wooohooo! I'll definitely go back again in future. Haha. Yums!

=D
