Probably not the ideal place to have our valentine's day dinner. Ha! BUT! Fulfilling our tummy is much much more important than having a nice romantic place. Ha!
But well, not that the place is too bad. It's actually pretty nice to me. =D A very Chinese place to me.
Okay. Like I said, the environment is not the most important factor. Haha.
Free flow of pu er tea! =D The attentive waitresses/waiters will fill up your cup before you finish the cup. Talk about attentive staffs.
The famous thing of the Paradize group! It's the colorful xiao long bao!!! Woohoo! As to why is there so many colors, it's actually because there's 8 different favors. My advice is to try all of them if it's your first time at the Paradize. After that, pick your favorite one and just order that. You never know until you tried! (For instance, I'm pretty shocked at tasting cheese in a xiao long bao.) The soup in the xiao long bao is really very nice! You definitely taste the favor that you are supposed to taste. In addition, the meat inside was tender and the skin was good. I am ready to boycott Crys**t J*de after tasting them. =D Plus, the xiao long bao was of a good size too. The one-mouth-bite-size.
The cold duck was really tasty. The coldness of the dish was actually a refreshing taste after the piping hot xiao long bao. Love to order them whenever we are at CJ. Meat was tender and not too salty. Done up to my liking!
The soup that was famous for their ramen has to be the pig bone soup. Very fragrant. The noodles was very well done. Not too hard and not too soggy. There's a lot of different types of pork they put in. There's sliced pork, pork chop lookalike etc. I felt that they were pretty generous with the pork serving.
Heh. My favorite dish in restaurants that offers them. Hahaha! It was the best that I have had so far (please tell me where to get even better ones please!) I love the way the chili, oil and the dumplings merge together. I cannot stand it when the dish gets too hot but this was just nice for me. I had to make sure that the entire dumpling is covered with the chili sauce before putting it into my mouth because the sauce tasted real yummy to me. Haha.
Ah. This is the gou bu li bao zi (translated into the dog don't care about the bun). Urm, so, does it mean that even dogs also don't want to eat this? Hahaha. So, I had to order it to see what is this about. I mean, I've heard about this bun since forever, but I had never had a bite of it!
So, it's a bun with loads of meat inside. Hahahaha! Not as salty as the normal meat bun that I buy. Probably, the skin is a little different too. But, I have no real liking towards it because it had not manged to stimulate my taste buds in a way that they love. I prefer the juicy meat buns we buy at coffee shops. (I'm sorry, little buns.)
At the rate we were eating, we were totally bloated beyond words. BUT BUT BUT! The desserts on the menu looks pretty good to me. I have to order them. Haha.
So, this is the aloe vera in osmantus lemon juice. Something like that. The osmantus is really very fragrant! You can find them real in the dessert. It's definitely not just the favoring. Plus, the lemon gave a tinge of sour to the sweet dessert. Aloe vera was crunchy. I LIKE!!
My favorite. Pumpkin slices. From the photo of the menu, I guessed that it's going to be something like grilled pumpkin. Well, I ordered it because I always liked grilled pumpkin when I'm at a Japanese restaurant. But heh, I was pretty shocked when I bite it. It's nothing like just grilled pumpkin AT ALL. Instead, it has the texture of the nian gou or mua chee (that's a little sticky chewy). But the pumpkin smell was not to be mistaken. What's more, the semi-crispy skin was to die for. Haha. It's the combination of crispy on the outside and chewy in the inside. LOL! Top it up with the fact that the dish is warm. My conclusion is that I like warm chewy desserts. =D
I had never gave thumbs up for desserts in a Chinese restaurant before. Ha.
Give it a try! I've really decided that I'm going to boycott CJ from now on. LOL! It's a little pricier than CJ and Ding Tai Feng itself. But, I don't think it deviated a lot from them. Pay a little more for the better food? However, brace yourself for a crowd during meal times. We escaped a queue because we went in earlier (6pm). By the time we came out of it (around 8pm), the usual crowd had gathered in the usually empty ION.

Desserts at Shin Kushiya! (Part II)
I'm sorry but I have to write another post of the desserts at Shin Kushiya again. Haha!
Please remember that there is this offer! It's still going on!!! Hahaha. But of course, this price is exclusive of GST and service charge (like always).
So, you get 2 green teas,
You will have 2 desserts!! Hahaha! This time round, we tried the parfait. (And it was the most expensive dessert on the menu. So, this means, we chuan dao la~)
Unlike most of the parfaits I have ate outside, this one totally stand out from the crowd. Goodbye to all the synthetic feeling stuffs (kanten jelly, nata de cococ etc) and say hi to all the good quality stuffs. Even the chocolate waffles stick is really nice! Haha. And this parfait has something new. Sesame cream (greyish thing on the bottom of the green tea ice cream). Eating it with the green tea ice cream was a really brilliant combination. However, I find it too sweet when I just eat the cream alone. I guess, the cream was born to go along with some ice cream. Hahaha!
Another thing that was really nice was that they add chestnuts! My favourite chestnuts! Hohohohoho! All the beans, jellies were totally different from the ones I have all the time. I LOVE IT!
I know I know, I've raved reviews about this mochi before. BUT! I have to do it again. If you are not interest, skip it. LOL!
Have you ever been in a situation before? Like, you remembered this particular thing as heavenly but when you went over to have it the second time, you realized that this is not as good as before? And then, you start blaming on the change of chef, on the fact that you have over rated it the last time. We did a check. No, this was as good as we had both remembered! Hooray!
I'm serious. This has to be the best mochi ever. Haha. Okay, the best I have had so far. Lol. I may go to Japan and realized that this has to be one of the lousiest there. LOL!

Provence wassant buns
I had Provence breads quite some time ago. And I fell in love with them! I believe the top top seller of the bakery has to be their wassant buns, which are the small small buns you see below. But then, recently, I noticed that more and more bakeries are coming out with them. And when my mama buy them for me, I would just eat them and say "yum yum". Hahaha.
But every single time I ate the original Provence's buns again, I can't help but notice a difference. The original one was better!
(Didn't take my favorite chocolate because they are hiding inside my tummy. Ha!) Well, I felt that there's an extra crispiness around the Provence one. Not exactly crispy but it felt that there's a more defined outer layer as compared to the others that I had tried. Plus, I felt that the chocolate taste better from Provence. Well, no one had noticed it and no one really agreed with me because everyone thinks that they are really similar. BUT NO! It's really different! LOL!
But then, come again, if Provence is so far away and we have a four leave bakery nearby, I don't really mind eating them. The difference is not that huge anyway. Hehs.

Ah Loy Thai @ Shaw Tower
I skipped Bollywood dancing for this dinner because my dear YX used her life to endorse this. Haha. And yes, I was not disappointed! =D
Ordered some side dishes too. Great recommendation babe!
So if I'm not wrong, this is the mango chicken. The mango is sweet, the chicken is crispy enough without losing the juiciness of the chicken and the sauce that is beneath the chicken is woooo, nice! Dip it with a little more sauce and it's going to be reallllly nice!!
Pandan chicken. Wooooo! Hahaha. (Why did I said 'Wooo' so many times now? Ha!) It's soooo nice!!! YUM YUM!! There's 2 sauces at each end of the plate. Dip the chicken with both the sauce and you will go "orh, orh, orh. NICE!!!" Haha. (Well, at least that's why the drama me did.)
It was really nicely grilled. I love the outer skin and the juicy chicken. Hehs.
Woooohooo! My favorite Phad Thai! That's what we have to eat when we go Thailand right? Hehs. Flavorful. Like! I like the way the different tastes blend together. But in my memory, this is not the best Phad Thai in my life so far. Nothing beats Kan Eang so far. =D
Pineapple rice! Not too bad I think. Well, from a spoon of the rice, that's my conclusion. Hahahahaha! Of course, I would love it more if there's pork floss sprinkled on top of it. Hehs. I cannot remember how it tasted anymore!
Glass noodles. Okay. This is really nice! All the sauce that was cooked with was practically sucked into the glass noodles! No? Haha. I love this loads!! Maybe because I've always been a great fan of glass noodles, and maybe because I really love it. Ha!
But well, although all the noodles/kway tiao/glass noodles etc are very flavorful and nice, I think the accompanying ingredients are not. Like the prawns, it's a little too overcooked for my liking. And it's not as fresh as I would love it to be. So I guess, that's the only complain I could find. BUT HEYS! All the noodles were exciting enough for me to overlook it. And if you don't really mind it that much, I would have to say, they are really generous in their serving sizes of the accompanying ingredients! Ha!
So, I need to return there again. Haha.
By the way, we spend around $60 for 6.5 people. Ha! And that included all our drinks! Hmm. Cheap and good. I LIKE!

This place is very simple and laid back. It's not like restaurants, but I prefer this kinda of feel sometimes. Just a simple place with cheap and good food and great company around you.
So, Jon ordered this urm, fish maw kway tiao. I kinda like it. The soup went into the fish maw and thus made the fish maw very flavorful. The soup taste great. But urm, I would probably not order this dish because I'm not a fast eater. And if you don't eat fast, or you wish to wait for your friend, then you would just have to accept that your kway tiao is a little too soggy. Other than that, it's pretty good.

Flor Patisserie @ Duxton Hill
I was trying to find a time to pull my foodie khakis down to Flor to try out their cakes after doing a little research on what to eat at Tanjong Pagar. Seriously, just looking at the website made me drool. Haha.
And so, when I was selected by inSing.com for the food tasting, BOY! I WAS OVERJOYED! Woohoo!
The place is a pretty little place tucked away at 2 Duxton Hill. I have a fetish for this kinda small and exquisite stores. And so, I fell in love with it! Immediately. =D
Seriously, just look at the selection when you enter the store! This is crazily appetizing! I am at such a loss when I was asked to pick what I would want to try. I wanted to try ALL! Like, seriously, life is about too much choices recently. Can you just give me all you have? And if you don't want to give me so much, then, please give me limited choices and I will take all too. HAHAHA! Okay, crap.
Top favorite top favorite!!!!!
I got the name wrongly. It was not mont blanc. Mont blanc does not have my favorite pastry on it. Haha. It's called Waguri Millefeuille. Woo. The cream is made from chestnuts and you can still see chestnuts sprinkled on top of it. God. I was seriously in heaven once again when I ate the cream. Haha.
What's best is actually the pastry/biscuit/crispy thing/base/whatever you call it. You do know what I'm talking about right? Haha. This is omg-ish kinda nice. Woo. *Drools* Just order any cakes with that pastry/biscuit/crispy thing/base/whatever you call it.
Berries berries/ Flor's strawberry shortcake/ Strawberry scoffle (please pardon me. I'm bad at names and memorizing things). It's Chef Yamashita's all time favorite, until he ate too much and decided that the Waguri became his favorite. Hahaha.
Boasted to be the best strawberry shortcake in Singapore. But, hmm, I am not too sure about it. We did not eat the cake when it was freshly taken out of the fridge. So, for cakes, after exposure to the air for a while, it will start to get a little rough and dry. And that's what happened. But even so, I can feel the cake melting in my mouth the moment I put it in. It's like, how did it managed to dissolve in just like that?! Crazy!! And then the cream. Woah. Nice. I would love to try it again the next time I visit Flor. I'm serious. Haha.
Berry Chocx. YUM YUM! The puff is really special and the custard cream was heavenly. They went so freaking well together. My goodness. *LOVES*
You must have heard me saying that chocolates and bananas are destined to be together forever and ever right? Hahaha. Well, at least in human. I think this is the first time I'm saying it on my blog. Lol. Yes, they have to be together. LOL! This Earl Grey Choclat made them merge again. Haha. A very interesting texture I have to say. Not something that I had tried before. Yum. They went really well together. The cake and the cream and the banana and the chocolate sprinkles. Haha. But according to TXY, the cake itself has no taste. I didn't try it, for I ate the entire layer together. Hehs.
Last but not least, the Classic Chocolate. It has a chocolate sponge with a moist inside and the blob of cream on top of it. The chocolate taste is really good. Yum yum. But I think the cake is a little hard. Did they purposely do it this way? Haha. I'm still not complaining because we have to stimulate our taste buds in many different way. No just the way we love it. I kinda like it because of the well blend between the sponge and the cream. And definitely the chocolate.
Thank you inSing.com. Haha. Please invite us more often for the future events! I love it!

I love photo frames on the walls. Nice nice.
Ok. And the food tasting begins. No, we did not get the full cake. Well, might as well. Since we are unable to finish the entire big slice ourselves anyway. We cannot encourage food wasting during food tasting sessions. So, small is good. =D

Pretty little thing isn't it?
Next next next, Cacao Royal. MY GOODNESSSSSSS! Haha. The chocolates were great, the texture was great. Yum yum. But, well, I have to say, if I were to compare with the Waguri on top, this loses out in omg-ish factor. It's just another chocolate cake. A very well done chocolate cake though. Haha.
But please, even so, I did not say that the cake is not nice. It was super nice!! Haha. Because texture is very very important to me when I eat desserts. And it did fulfilled my requirements. =D

The Vert. The macha/green tea cake. Haha. The aroma of the macha is so super strong and nice. It was so heavenly! But the thing is that I felt that the cake was a little rough for my liking. But I do realized that macha cakes tend to be this rough. Just like the one I love from the super market. And really, eating it chilled is way much nicer than eating it after a while. =D My man likes it!
Look look look! It's the pastry/biscuit/crispy thing/whatever you call it again! This time round, it's with strawberries! The cake is the same to me. The same good spongy cake. But the topping is different. Well, more refreshed I would say. Love it too. Anything with that pastry/biscuit/crispy thing/whatever you call it is great! Yum yum Napoleon.

They served us hibiscus tea. It was refreshingly nice! Apparently, it helps in digestion so it was a great thing to go with after eating so many yummy yummy cakes. Hehs.

Thank you inSing.com. Haha. Please invite us more often for the future events! I love it!
Final verdict. Please visit the place. Oh, bring your friends/families along too. With the wide selection of cakes that does not really cost as much as a lot of places, I'm so sure you can find your love! I'm dead serious. Haha. Other than the yummy cakes that pushed me to heaven, I seriously love this place because I feel the presence of the chef in all the cakes. I like this kinda small shops. As in, there's passion and love for the things he baked. And that's what important to me. And, doesn't the cakes look like a piece of art? Just go, stop thinking of your dieting plans. Hahahaha.
By the way, their cakes are selling fast at around 4. So, if you don't want to miss the cakes, go slightly earlier eh? Afternoon tea. Wooo. Nice. Haha.
