Chong Pang Nasi Lemak II

Well, I paid another visit to our supper place again! So, haha, can I just show off the photos I took with my Nexy?

I always find this place amazing. They called it nasi lemak. Well, it still look like Chinese food to me. No? Lol. But I guess, it's the rice that gave the name! Haha. It's not common to have Chinese cooking really nice nasi lemak. However, I think this place did it well enough. I was scooping spoons and spoons of rice into my mouth. LOL!

The chicken wings will never fail you. Hehs. It's oh-so-nice! Even though it was supposed to be my bedtime, I erm, cannot stand the smell and taste and temptations.

This has to be one of my top favorite too! They called it the mermaid. Urm, for what reason, I have no idea. But this is crispy and cooked with the sweet and hot sauce. A little spicy, but I LOVE IT!

We have to eat vegetables!

The typical Chinese nasi lemak/ fry been hoon selection.

This is the culprit. Ha. It was super fragrant! Once again, I was sniffing and sniffing the air for the chicken wing's fragrant the entire journey back home. Ha! Lovely. And it was still crispy when we ate it at home. =D

I haven't get the chance to try all the other dishes because I really love the things I order all the time. And, I don't get to go down to the place that often! LOL! But heys, getting hungry in the middle of the night is no longer a terrible thing. We get to eat yummy food!!

Kheng Nam Lee Teochew Porridge

I always love Teochew porridge. I believe it must be because of how I was brought up. My mama loves to cook porridge for me. Haha. And I like it the most when she cooks plain porridge with several other dishes to go along for lunch.

Since the porridge is bland, we need something salty to go along! Haha. And my craving for Teochew porridge was finally satisfied at Kheng Nam Lee! Hooray!

Billboard inside the shop.

Saw this at the side.
Love it when I see a large selection of dishes to choose from. But I would love to see dishes that have better colors that I had saw at the stall actually......

For just the 2 of us, we ordered quite a lot I think. Hehs.

The minced meat is my man's sis's favourite. I think it's done pretty nicely. But seriously, meat is never my favourite when it comes to porridge. But of course, it spiced up the plain porridge quite a bit. A little salty and the meat was good.

And this. Oh. Woo. Whoosh. Wee! It's my favourite favourite favourite! Haha. Peanuts with ikan bilis. This is the thing that made me like nasi lemak/muslim food. Haha. I loveee it! I always order them if I see them. And jiang jiang! This is something that I saw at Kheng Nam Lee. Wah! Together with my plain porridge, it's heavenly!

And the reason why I love this dish is because they did it really well. I feel that the spiciness, sweetness, sourness and saltiness was just right. And the ikan bilis was not over fried as with some of the nasi lemak I've ate (for example, holland market). I think I finished almost the entire plate myself ba. Hahahahahaha!

Duckie was the man's favourite. Well, for a full-time carnivore like him, he had his meat craving satisfied. I love it when we eat it with the coriander. Yums! To him, it was good, to me, it was just another duck meat. Well, what do you think?

Nothing special with the braised eggs. I just happen to like them a lot. Texture of the eggs maybe? Hehs. But urm, that's my personal perference. I think it's probably because my parents always order an extra egg for me when they buy me chicken/duck rice. Haha.

Cha por egg. What's that in English ar? Salty preserved vegetables? I love this dish with plain porridge. Mama always cook them at home. Haha. I don't like the cha por to be too salty. I love it when it's a little sweet. Urm, I can only taste the salty in this dish here. A little too dry for my liking (I'm picking on the bones here). But overall it's not too bad. I still think it's a must have for porridge because it's salty. Haha!

They cooked it and cut it so that we get a slab each. Haha. I like my mama's version more. Not a regular pan shaped (as above). For I think, when you cook the egg this way, the egg tend to be dryer than usual. I prefer the scramble egg style. (I don't even know if you know what I'm trying to talk about here. Haha. It's the way you cook an egg. Haha!)

Wah. This is another of my top top top favorite! The preserved vegetables (stem area). We can it the Chai Tor. I enjoy this this especially when we eat bak ku teh. Haha. I have to say that this dish was really very well done. There's a tinge of sweetness together with the original saltiness that came from the preservatives. Yum. The taste of the sauce that the vegetables were cooked in went into the vegetables! And it was really very tender and soft. I love it. Yums.

The chili was good. My man loves it.

Barley drink was okay. Hehs. Normal lo.....

Overall, the meal was good. But then, it's a little expensive ba... The entire table of food cost $20. Urm, ya, it's quite a lot of food. Erm, we are eating porridge leh. And a lot of vegetables. Ha. I also have no idea how the boss actually counted the price actually. Haha.

Chong Pang Nasi Lemak

I think this place is famous enough. Right? Or was it because we live at the North Area? Haha. I've heard about it so many times but I had never ever tried it. And so, we decided to buy it for supper!! =D

Took a bus to Chong Pang and then walk down the road to the place. Oh, it was not as far as I had assumed it was. Either that or I had great company. =D

Like expected, there's a queue. Lol. But because we went around 9, it was not that bad. Hehs. Soon, I get to look at the selection of dishes!

Seriously, I assumed nasi lemak to be just great rice, great chili, great chicken wing and great ikan bilis. But hohoho, the Chinese version had made it into a wide selection of dishes! Haha. Which is good, because we can try new things. But it is bad too, because I'm bad at selecting dishes because I want everything! Hehs.

Heh. Their fried stuffs look really great you know?! And they just cook and cook and cook nonstop behind the scene.

My stomach was not receptive to food at that time, so we packed it home. Hehs. That was a crazy move because the smell of the chicken wing keep disturbing us on the bus ride home. Hahahaha. We will converse a while and end up saying '很香吼?' (smells great right?). It's so disturbing!! LOL!

So tadang, this was what we had chosen. I simply love that ikan bilis look alike thing. So crunchy and delicious. Haha. The otar was pretty normal. And the prawn, we were quite shocked that they gave us 2! Most places will only give one, isn't it? Hehs. But the first bite was great, the second bite onwards, no, it wasn't that great anymore. A little nua I would say. Too much flour that was not well fried?

But the chili was good!!! I always say that so long the chili is nice, I can just finish my whole plate of plain rice with the chili. =D

And the rice. Gosh. It's so fragrant and yummy!! This is another determining factor of a great nasi lemak!

And the main character has to our chicken wing. Haha. Although we've decided to share a pack of the rice, we were determined not to share our wings. Lol! So we got one each. Haha. It's still so crispy after a bus ride home. And even until papa came home, it was still crispy! The meat was succulent. The skin was nice. Wah, I wanted to finish all the wings myself! Hehs. Of course I did not. Lol..

Yes, I would definitely go back again. Haha. Oh, did I ever mentioned that the whole supper only cost $9.60? We got 2 packs of the rice and 4 wings. Boy, I was surprised that I can pay every with just a $10 note. Hahaha! I expected more! LOL!

=D
