Desserts at Shin Kushiya! (Part II)

I'm sorry but I have to write another post of the desserts at Shin Kushiya again. Haha!

Please remember that there is this offer! It's still going on!!! Hahaha. But of course, this price is exclusive of GST and service charge (like always).

So, you get 2 green teas,

You will have 2 desserts!! Hahaha! This time round, we tried the parfait. (And it was the most expensive dessert on the menu. So, this means, we chuan dao la~)

Unlike most of the parfaits I have ate outside, this one totally stand out from the crowd. Goodbye to all the synthetic feeling stuffs (kanten jelly, nata de cococ etc) and say hi to all the good quality stuffs. Even the chocolate waffles stick is really nice! Haha. And this parfait has something new. Sesame cream (greyish thing on the bottom of the green tea ice cream). Eating it with the green tea ice cream was a really brilliant combination. However, I find it too sweet when I just eat the cream alone. I guess, the cream was born to go along with some ice cream. Hahaha!

Another thing that was really nice was that they add chestnuts! My favourite chestnuts! Hohohohoho! All the beans, jellies were totally different from the ones I have all the time. I LOVE IT!

I know I know, I've raved reviews about this mochi before. BUT! I have to do it again. If you are not interest, skip it. LOL!

Have you ever been in a situation before? Like, you remembered this particular thing as heavenly but when you went over to have it the second time, you realized that this is not as good as before? And then, you start blaming on the change of chef, on the fact that you have over rated it the last time. We did a check. No, this was as good as we had both remembered! Hooray!

I'm serious. This has to be the best mochi ever. Haha. Okay, the best I have had so far. Lol. I may go to Japan and realized that this has to be one of the lousiest there. LOL!

Nandos at Plaza Singapura

I've heard loads of stories about Nandos. There's good ones, there's not too good ones. All in all, there's a lot of people talking about Nandos in a way or another. So I finally gave it a try!

The thing about the Nandos is the Peri-peri. It's actually chili in layman terms (ha!). And since it's the thing at Nandos, there's actually varying degree of peri-peri level (4 of them to be exact). Well, different levels will touch your tongue in different ways. Hahaha! As a su-la (singlish term for scary-cat, yet another singlish term, or a timid person), I chose to go along with the first 2 levels. Haha. Okay, back to the Nandos, so, on top of the Peri-peri, it is of course famous for the grilling. They grill the chicken with the sauces that they must be really proud of. And tadang! That's Nandos chicken for you.

Which means, we have to order the chicken somehow isn't it? So, I ordered the meal for 2 since there is 3 of us. I totally regretted that because unlike most places, the meal for 2 is seriously not enough for 3 people! *Disappointed*

Another disappointment about the meal for 2 is that there's a lot of stuffs that are not exciting at all. For example, the salad. I cannot appreciate the sauce and the vegetables they chose are the ones that are really raw and really bitter. I'm so sorry but I was thinking of the sushi teh sauce when I looked at the salad. Haha.

The drink that came along was good. It's some orange soda in layman terms I guess. Pretty good. Yum.

Wedges was good. Crispy and it wasn't very starchy inside. The reason why I usually prefers fries over wedges is because when the wedges were not done well, the insides gets real starchy and digusting while the outside remains crispy. But Nandos did it well. =D

The bread was good. Hard outside, soft inside. Haha. The butter was a little special. I believe olives were added into it. But then come again, I really prefer butter. Give me one thick stab of cold butter. Wooooo~

There's also this breast chicken strips. Too oily for my liking. And I never really fancy breast meat anyway.

And finally, here comes the main thing. For the meal for 2, the chicken comes in 2 pieces of 1/4 chicken. If you are lucky, you will get the drumstick. If you are not, there comes the breast meat again. But seriously, I have nothing against breast meat sometimes. There are really places which are able to cook it really tender and I love them! But for Nandos, it's pretty obvious that I don't exactly fancy the breast meat.

I have to say, be it the lemon and herb or the mild peri peri, I love them all! The sauces were really good and it made the chicken taste really nice. But the thing is that, the tastefulness stops at the skins. It doesn't really get into the chicken. And that gets a little upsetting when the skins are gone and you are left with just the chicken. Ha! Thank goodness that the sauces that they place on the table are pretty good. It made up for the fact that my chicken skins were eaten up!

Sushi Tei @ Raffles City

Heh. Recently, we've took a special liking towards Sushi Tei!! Hahahahaha. It's good and cheap(er). What more can we ask for?????

Hmm. My current favorite is this sashimi salad. Wooohooo! Top it up with the sushi tei sauce. You will have everyone on the table saying "NICE!". I'm serious. Hahaha. Do remember to ask for extra salad sauce because it's the sauce that made the salad fantastic. And of course, we have to give credits to the sashimi. They are pretty fresh I think. But I don't know too much about it because I don't eat them. I just like the sauce. And the vegetables. Ha!

We tried the sushi roll. Oh, this mango one is niceeeeee~ I like! The mango went well with the rice and the prawn inside. Ha!

I don't really like the taste of avocado. So, this feels a little weird to me. But that aside, it's not too bad. The thing inside is soft shell crab? Hmm. I forgot. But there's unagi on top of the rice, below the fruit. Hahahaha. Nice!

This soft shell crab sushi is pretty normal. The crabby is already cold and not crispy anymore. So, hmm. Nope, I don't really like it alot.

This has to be my favorite of the favorite. Lol. Every single time I go sushi tei, I would order this. Haha. I forgot the Japanese name for it, but it's tempura squid. Please, order it. And, dip the mayonaise. Haha.

Ok, this is my man's favorite now. Ever since his sis recommended it to him, he made me remember to order this every time we go sushi tei. Haha. Until he gets tired of it, I think. Lol. It's really very flavorful~ Hahahaha. I love this garlic fried rice too!!

And then, this is our favorite together. Lol. The saba! The fish is nicely grilled and the sauce is really good. And I am always a great fan of fishes! Hahaha. This one does not have that much fish bones so it's not too bad. Yum yum. I wanna eat the fishhhhh........ The last time we ordered this, we shared it among 6 people. My man and I agreed that we can actually finish one by ourselves... LOL!

If you are a fan of Japanese cuisine and that you don't really want to spend a bomb on the meal, Sushi Tei has to be a top choice! Haha. I'm serious. They don't burn a hole and they give pretty decent food. We spend around 105 bucks in total (we also ordered gyoza and unagi sushi which is pretty good). Not a lot what. If you compare to other places la..... LOL!

Recommended recommended!

But I have no idea if different kitchens across Singapore will produce different standards. I have to say, the Raffles City Shopping Center's is good! I love it. =D

Provence wassant buns

I had Provence breads quite some time ago. And I fell in love with them! I believe the top top seller of the bakery has to be their wassant buns, which are the small small buns you see below. But then, recently, I noticed that more and more bakeries are coming out with them. And when my mama buy them for me, I would just eat them and say "yum yum". Hahaha.

But every single time I ate the original Provence's buns again, I can't help but notice a difference. The original one was better!

(Didn't take my favorite chocolate because they are hiding inside my tummy. Ha!) Well, I felt that there's an extra crispiness around the Provence one. Not exactly crispy but it felt that there's a more defined outer layer as compared to the others that I had tried. Plus, I felt that the chocolate taste better from Provence. Well, no one had noticed it and no one really agreed with me because everyone thinks that they are really similar. BUT NO! It's really different! LOL!

But then, come again, if Provence is so far away and we have a four leave bakery nearby, I don't really mind eating them. The difference is not that huge anyway. Hehs.

Baumkuchen cake from Muji

I went shopping at Muji and I saw this cake!

Ha. I remembered it as a pretty nice cake from the Japan shows. Haha. It is cut from a big round ring cake. I remembered it as a very interesting dessert! And so, I have to buy it. It's at $2.90 per piece and if you were to buy 2, there's 10% off. Lol. So, I bought 2! (COME ON, there's a few favors around, and if you know me well enough, you would have guessed that I have to try all the favors!)

My verdict was. Erm, its too dense for my liking. Haha. A little dry too? I think it would have went really nicely with some fruit tea. Ha! But I cannot deny that the apple and banana smell (the 2 favors I chose) was really fragrant. It's a tad too sweet for my liking too.

No idea what would others think of? But then, could it be just Muji or all the cakes will taste like this? HMMMM. I have to find baumkuchen cake from bakeries to find out!

Shokudo @ Raffles City

It's been a long time since I last went Shokudo, so, I thought, we can hop over there for a quick dinner fix since we are around Raffles City (yet again).

If you had not know, Shokudo is like the Japanese version of Marche. So you get a card and then you just go around the entire restaurant and order food with the card. At the end of the day, you bring the card over to the cashier and pay. Hehs. There's a wide selection of stuffs. From drinks, ramen, western food, finger food, sashimi all the way to desserts. Well, of course, I would not say that it's ohmygodish kinda nice, but it's not too bad.

So, since I've been there before, I just zoom zoom zoom to buy the food I wanted to eat. Haha. It's supposed to be a quick dinner!

Had a craving for rosti. But then, hmm. I think it's slightly burned. And. I have not ate enough rosti to really know how good a rosti should taste. To me, it was pretty good. Just potato? Haha. The sausage was not too bad too. So well, not too bad a dish to pick if you are at Shokudo.

Another thing that I remembered was nice was the omelete! I chose the ham and cheese. Yummilicious. This was really nice! Haha. You should see how my man goes "Wooo. This is nice!" everytime he took a bite. (Well, it could because I starved him before the dinner.) But yea, the melted cheese and the ham goes together with the egg. And I've always liked eggs!

And urm, something that is not too nice is the salmon. Very normal tasting. Not very tender and not ultra fresh. And the grill was not that nice. Oh, the sauce was not fantastic either. So urm, maybe not the salmon the next time.

Something that was really nice was this apple juice. Ha! It's not too sweet and I just love it! Ha! Apple taste is good too!

I think it's a very good place to go if you have a lot of friends. Ha! Then everyone can choose some dishes and enjoy the dishes together. It may not be fantastic but it's the company that counts right? Urm, not the place to go if you are looking for fantastic and ohmygodish kinda food. Ha!

It's located at B1 of Raffles City Shopping Center! =D

Qi Ji

I always like Qi Ji's Poh Piah. (Please note that the photos are pretty lousy because I erm, did not have my camera at that time! ARGH!)

In case you have not heard of poh piah, it's actually a Chinese snack with a thin flour skin (aka poh piah skin) wrapped with cooked turnip, peanuts, beansprout, vegetable and THE sauce. I used to only like the skin but recently, I have took a liking towards eating the entire thing!

Well, for a poh piah to be deemed as nice, I would think that it have to be wrapped tightly enough. There are people who is unable to do that and thus the entire poh piah will just fall apart and you are just eating all the constituents individually. Well, I'm sure you are not asking for that kind of experience if you are actually eating poh piah!

For Qi Ji, I think they did it pretty well. There's this crispy thing inside that add to the overall attractiveness of it. Another place that contains this crispy thing is at the Whampo hawker center. I had this once upon a time (girls, let's go and eat it someday).

And of course, the sauce and the turnip was cooked nicely. I loveee it!

Another thing that I like from Qi Ji is the nasi lemak! Nice chicken, nice rice! Yum yum!! I like!!

This one is pretty easy to find because they have quite a few branches all over Singapore. =D

Chong Pang Nasi Lemak II

Well, I paid another visit to our supper place again! So, haha, can I just show off the photos I took with my Nexy?

I always find this place amazing. They called it nasi lemak. Well, it still look like Chinese food to me. No? Lol. But I guess, it's the rice that gave the name! Haha. It's not common to have Chinese cooking really nice nasi lemak. However, I think this place did it well enough. I was scooping spoons and spoons of rice into my mouth. LOL!

The chicken wings will never fail you. Hehs. It's oh-so-nice! Even though it was supposed to be my bedtime, I erm, cannot stand the smell and taste and temptations.

This has to be one of my top favorite too! They called it the mermaid. Urm, for what reason, I have no idea. But this is crispy and cooked with the sweet and hot sauce. A little spicy, but I LOVE IT!

We have to eat vegetables!

The typical Chinese nasi lemak/ fry been hoon selection.

This is the culprit. Ha. It was super fragrant! Once again, I was sniffing and sniffing the air for the chicken wing's fragrant the entire journey back home. Ha! Lovely. And it was still crispy when we ate it at home. =D

I haven't get the chance to try all the other dishes because I really love the things I order all the time. And, I don't get to go down to the place that often! LOL! But heys, getting hungry in the middle of the night is no longer a terrible thing. We get to eat yummy food!!
